MEETING FORMAT

This meeting follows the Hyannis-style format, where each week a step is read out of the Big Book followed by a speaker who shares their experience on that step. When the speaker is finished, people from the floor who have completed this process may share their experience on that step.

SPEAKER RECORDINGS

With permission from our speakers, their share is recorded and uploaded to this website to be shared among ourselves and with others. There are also recordings of our annual retreat, see below.

ANNUAL FALL RETREAT

Every autumn, usually on the first weekend in October, our group hosts a weekend Big Book retreat. The retreat is held at an idyllic children’s summer camp. The format of the retreat is that two speakers, one woman, and one man, spend the weekend sharing their experiences going through all twelve of the steps. For over 20 years this retreat has been a welcome escape and spiritual refresher. If you would like more information about our fall retreat, email BBSSPortlandME@gmail.com.

A.A. PREAMBLE

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.
